The solution to that, or similar problems, would be for Cisco to fix their software.
From the Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client screen, choose Disconnect. You will be able to see the Client is disconnected when the little gold padlock disappears from the icon in the system tray at the lower right corner of your screen (you may need to click the white arrow to see it). 5) Right click the Cisco icon in system tray and quit Cisco AnyConnect 6) L aunch the VPN after deleting everything, put vpn.illinois.edu in the server window and use your NetID and password to log in via the 'Split Tunnel' profile. If you are planning to use Library resources you might need to use 'tunnel all'.
Look to see if you have any kernel panic logs in /Library/Logs/Diagnostic Reports/.
There are other things that might be causing the restarts, but kernel panics are the most common.
There were some similar posts about cisco AnyConnect when Sierra was released, but I'm not sure how common it is.
It could be an interaction with other software. The kernel panic log might indicate if there is something else loaded.
But, I would imagine it is caused by AnyConnect.
Someone else may know if it still causes problems.

Current Description
A vulnerability in Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client for Windows could allow an authenticated, local attacker to cause a denial of service (DoS) condition on an affected system. This vulnerability is due to uncontrolled memory allocation. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by copying a crafted file to a specific folder on the system. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to crash the VPN Agent service when the affected application is launched, causing it to be unavailable to all users of the system. To exploit this vulnerability, the attacker must have valid credentials on a multiuser Windows system.
