A better method is to use the Beat Grid. Preparing and Analyzing Your Files Before playing music in any Serato software, it is essential to analyze your music files. Why Can't Serato Dj Analyze Bpm Music

Full Length Waveform: Colors in the waveform shows the frequency of the sounds, hot cues and loops. You can zoom in and out by clicking the + and – buttons on the left side of the waveform.
Search: Click on the magnifying glass to search for a track within your track library.
Engine Library: All loaded tracks will show up on your Engine Library database. Analyzing your music library in Engine enables you to use hot cue points, crates, and playlists as well as view color-coded waveforms. When you load a track to your Engine Library, Engine will automatically scan the track and load the Beats per Minute and waveform.
Engine Target Library: All USB hard drives or flash drives will show up on the Engine Target Library section. We recommend using the Engine computer software to create an Engine Target database on your USB drive. When MCX8000 plays the tracks on that USB drive, it will reference its Engine database information resulting in a smoother performance. Each USB drive can have an independent Engine Target database on it, so if your player lets you connect multiple USB drives, you can use it to access multiple Engine Targets.
*We recommend using a FAT32 partition type for the best performance*
Hot Cue Functions: The Engine software offers your 8 color coordinated Hot Cues. Hot Cues allows you to setup markers on any track to indicate different parts to start. You can use Hot Cues to create your own edits and mixes on the fly.
Loop Functions: Loop allows you auto repeat certain part of the song. To create an auto-loop, press Auto Loop when it is unlit. A loop will be automatically created and activated at the current location. You can increase the Auto-Loop Length by pressing the – or + buttons.
Library Track List: Shows all the information for all the tracks in your library. An Engine database includes information to enable the following features: Crates, Cue Points, Loop Points, BPM, Filter Search, Playlists, Hot Cue Points, Beat Points, Waveform Data and Word Search. Highlight a track and Double-Click to load it.

This article will answer some frequently asked questions about the features and functionality of the Denon DJ Engine Prime music management software.
Engine Prime Frequently Asked Questions
What is Engine Prime?
Engine Prime is a new iteration of the revolutionary Engine DJ software. This is a music analysis and management software for optimizing your music library, file navigation, and playback experience on the Denon DJ SC5000 prime media players. Engine Prime was built from the ground up to improve on the success of its predecessor while adding tons of new features such as personalized user profiles that store preferences like screen brightness, sync settings, pictures or logos for the center display, and much more.
Where can I download Engine Prime?
Engine Prime is available as a free download for all users on the Denon DJ website. Follow the link below to download:
Are there tutorial videos available for Engine Prime?
Yes, we regularly create new content around Engine Prime. As new videos are created, they are added to the playlist below:
Is an Engine Prime v1.2 database backward compatible with Engine Prime v1.1.1?
Engine Prime 1.2 is not backward compatible with Engine Prime 1.1.1. Switching back to 1.1.1 may cause undesired behavior and loss of collection integrity. We recommend making a backup copy of the Music/Engine Library folder as an extra safety precaution before upgrading.
What are the system requirements for Engine Prime?
Windows:
Os Version: Windows 8.1 (64-bit) or Windows 10 (64-bit)
Processor: i5 2.0Ghz or faster
Memory: 4GB RAM or more
Video Card: Intel HD Graphics or better
Sound Interface: DirectX Compatible Interface
Free Space: 150Mb available for application
Mac:
OS Version: macOS 10.12, macOS 10.13, macOS 10.14
Processor: i5 2.0GHz or faster
Memory: 4GB RAM or more
Sound Interface: Internal sound card or Core Audio compatible interface
Free Space: 150Mb available for application
Does Engine Prime support 32-bit Windows?
Engine Prime currently only officially supports Windows 8 and Windows 10, which are almost exclusively 64-bit. Because of this, we are currently only supporting 64-bit Windows platforms.
What types of media should I use?
When choosing a portable USB drive or SD card for your system, we recommend using drives from reputable media brands whenever possible. SD cards must be Class 6 (c6) or faster. USB drives should have similar performance specs (at least 20MB/s read / 6 MB/s write speed). The faster the media, the faster tracks can load. Slower drives may result in lags when navigating through the collection and longer load times.
For a helpful comparison between all of the popular drives on the market, and a free test to check the stability of your own drive, check out the site: UserBenchmark.com. This will allow you to sort drives by several different parameters like capacity, price, read speed, write speed, etc. Keep in mind that better Peak Read MB/s ratings will be more important for efficient media playback, like playing music through the SC5000. This becomes even more important when a single drive is used to access songs for multiple layers or SC500 players simultaneously.
How much free hard drive space do I need?
How much free space is required depends on the size of your music collection. Keep in mind, the grid and waveform data require additional storage space. This is approximately 200 Mb per 1000 songs, but this can vary greatly depending on the length of tracks in the collection.
Does Engine Prime support network drives?
Engine Prime should be used only with local internal or external drives. Can i download old version garageband on ipad 2. NAS drives are not supported with Engine Prime v1.3.1.
Is Engine Prime an update to the original Engine 1.5 software?
Engine Prime is a completely separate version of the Engine software, not a subsequent version of the original Engine 1.5. While the first iteration of Engine Prime is not compatible with the MCX8000, forthcoming versions will allow users to save libraries in an MCX8000 compatible format. All MCX8000 users should continue to use Engine 1.5 until a compatible Engine Prime update is released.
Is there a feature overview available to help me get started?
Yes! See the video guide below for a download and installation walkthrough, as well as an introduction to features and performance:
Why do remote drives and songs also show up in the main collection?
The Main Collection is a complete list of all connected media, both remote and local. This allows for all of your songs on either connected hard drives or internal storage to be used interchangeably, making it easy to find your track regardless of where the file is stored.
Because of this, duplicate entries may appear in the main collection if a song is located in both the main collection and a removable drive. Songs are not physically duplicated on the drive, the main collection is simply reporting the song in multiple databases. Removable drives can still be moved from one computer to another and have their crate structures retained, and any song in the main collection can be dragged to the Engine player for playback and editing at any time.
We realize that this is a departure from more traditional workflows and are working on an option to separate collection drives with remote drives in a more clear manner.

Can Engine Prime read my 3rd party music libraries?
Yes, Engine Prime supports iTunes, Serato DJ, Rekordbox, and Traktor collections natively without the need for additional conversion applications. Use the Library tab in the Preferences to toggle 3rd party libraries on and off.
Does Engine Prime support beat grid and tempo editing?
Yes, once a track is loaded to the deck you can adjust the grid and tempo manually by clicking the Grid Edit Control button below the deck control button.
Why can’t I drag files or folders from Windows Explorer to Engine Prime?
This is most likely due to running Engine Prime “as administrator.” Please make sure Run As Administrator is disabled in the advanced application preferences and try opening Engine Prime again.
Help! My external drive doesn’t show up in the devices panel. (Windows)
This may happen when Windows (and therefore Engine Prime) detects an external drive as an internal drive. This can happen if an internal SATA drive is placed in a 3rd party USB enclosure. We do not support these drives and recommend you do not use them, as Windows is unable to safely eject the drives.

Why can’t I add songs from read-only media to my collection?

Why is the ASIO driver for my audio interface unavailable in Engine Prime?
Engine Prime does not support ASIO as of Engine Prime v1.1. Windows users, please use the Windows WASAPI versions of your desired audio interface drivers to continue.
